3 Facts for 3 Months

I'm late again since Jack was three months over a week ago, but better late than never.

Fact #1. Jack laughs alot now and smiles like crazy. His laugh is the cutest and best sound I have ever heard and so rewarding because you still have to work pretty hard to get it. I've tried to catch it on video, but the kid refuses to perform. He stops whatever adorable/slash/impressive thing he's doing when we pull out the camera and just stares at us blankly. Its incredibly frustrating.

Fact #2. Jack is OBSESSED with his tongue. He is constantly pushing it in and out of his mouth, sticking it out at people and licking things. He especially loves his tongue in wind, its never in his mouth when we are outside and there is even a slight breeze. He's kinda like a dog in that way.

Fact #3. Jack can hold himself up in a standing position. If we put him in front of the ottoman he'll hold himself up standing for quite awhile until he gets tired and tilts to the side. I always keep my arms right beside him for the inevitable tip, but he's doing better and better at it each day.

Rolling Baby

I have been very STRONGLY encouraging Jack to roll for quite sometime now. I know he is only 3 months and I'm probaly pushing it, but he's gone back to waking up 8 to 10 times a night and when he falls asleep on his tummy in tummy time he just seems so much happier and more peaceful. I just wanted him to be a competent roller as quickly as humanly possible so he can sleep on his stomach and hopefully then stop waking his Mother up a billion times a night.

Anyways Jack has been so stubborn about not rolling over despite my massive encouragement and giving him an hour plus of tummy time most days. He loves his tummy so much he just falls asleep half the time instead of moving around.

BUT today we finally hit the milestone. Jack rolled, several times. We're at 3 so far and he's only been on tummy time for probaly an accumulative 15 minutes so its totally not a random fluke! I'm so excited! I'll give him a few more days/weeks/whatever it takes to get really good at rolling then we'll try the stomach for naps first and see how it goes. I really hope it works and soon my baby sleeps better!

Oh and the best part of him choosing today to roll is that Branden and I both happened to be there and paying attention when he rolled. So awesome that we both got to see his first roll!

Are You Serious?-Part Two

Okay for real he did it AGAIN last night. Only woke up once and really I don't think he would have woken up at all, but I woke up at 4:30 and was slightly uncomfortable in the chest region so sat there listening for any sound and at 5:30 when I heard minor rustling I went in, woke him up and fed him and he fell right back asleep and is still there. Is my baby seriously on the verge of sleeping through the night?? I am positive if I'd been able to sleep through he would have too today. But honestly even if he stuck with waking up once a night I can so handle that.

Its so weird to me how last night I got 6 straight hours of sleep (I couldn't get back to sleep after my 4:30 wake up and 5:30 feeding) and I feel better than when I get like 8 hours but all broken up and discombobulated. I feel as though I may return fully to my former self if my lovely son keeps this up.

This morning as I was kissing my husband goodbye for work in the morning (the last 2.5 months he has kissed me on the forhead as I lie dead in bed from being up 37 times already) he said to me " now that Jack is sleeping through the night how about we switch and I'm stay at home Dad and you work" hahahaha as if I would ever give up this delightfulness!!!!

Are You Serious?

Yesturday we were at my parents house (more on that later) and on the car ride home I said to Branden would it be ridiculous to pray that Jack only wakes up once tonight. To which Branden responded with a hearty course of laughter at the utter ridiculousness of the thought of Jack only waking up once in a nice. Jack is slowly getting to be a better sleeper, but has only managed 2 nights of waking up twice and regularly is up 3 or 4 times (which is a miracle in itself since it was for along time 6 to 8 times a night.

Well last night my son must have been drugged because he only woke up once! I am almost hesitant to write about this. I feel like I might curse it and he'll be back to 8 times tonight or something ridiculous like that. But last night he slept from 9 until 3:30 and then 3:45 to 7:15. It was insane and I feel so rested today, its like I'm a whole new person when I actually get 8 hours of sleep.

Seriously I pray this keeps up, but I'm afraid it won't. Hope for me please!!

Fist Sucker Jack

Branden thinks this one looks like he's trying to eat and imaginary icecream cone.

Recently Jack has discovered his hands and his favourite new hobby is sucking his fist. I think its so cute because I"ll be doing the laundry and I'll randomly hear these big slurpy sucking noises and come around the corner to see Jack going to town on his fist. Its just so adorable. Sometimes Branden and I think we should be a little bit concernicus about this, because inevitably when he becomes slightly more dexterous it will evolve into thumb sucking which if we cannot get under control by the time adult teeth come in will inevitably lead to braces, BUT who cares because he's cute and it makes him happy when nothing else will.

The Onesie Debate

Baby clothing is a new world to Branden and I, we still struggle with snaps and trying to get Jack's arms in his clothing before he throws a fit. In this new world of baby clothing there is a constant debate/slash/fight between Branden and myself and that is the definition of a onesie. Branden thinks that anything that is "one piece" is a onesie, so many things then fit in this category. This drives me bonkers. Branden is always calling Jack's sleepers, onesies and it confuses/slash/enrages me like no other.

A onesie is this.

This is a sleeper.

And my husband NEEDS to learn the difference.

Our First Date Night Post Jack

Well this has taken me as long to write about as it took us to have one pretty much, but oh well and the picture is old since I so forgot to bring my camera, but a few weeks ago Branden and I actually got to go out on a date. We went to Brampton and left Jack with Branden's parents for a few hours. We went out to dinner at Applebee's (soo my favourite restaurant) and then we went and saw a movie, Hellboy II. It was not the best movie, but it was so nice to just be out together alone. Hopefully we get to have another date night soon. Honestly though by the end of the evening (we were gone about 4 hours) I was missing Jack so much I could barely stand it. The last 15 minutes of the movie were like TORTURE I just wanted the dumb thing to end. When we got back to his parents house I ran to him and did not let go for quite sometime. As nice as it is to get away sometimes I definately miss my little guy when I'm not with him.

Things I Miss

Even though Jack is only 2.5 months old, there are already things I miss about him being a little baby.

Most of all I miss The Peanut. When he was first born he was so teeny, tiny and he would just cuddle into my chest like a little peanut, all curled up around my boob. It was sooo adorable and so comfy holding him and his feet ended at the bottom of my chest and it was just like bliss. Now he's all legs and arms. I try to cuddle him on my chest when i'm sitting up and his legs infest me and kick at me (because he's a very movey sleeper)and it just really makes me miss his peanut.

Here is a picture of the peanut, it is not me he is curled up on I didn't get a picture of that.. hence you get him curled up on Kim.

Next I miss mini non-explosive poo's. When he was so little he may have pooped alot but they were all small and stayed put in his diaper. Now that he's older and has gone from pooping 8 times a day to 2 to 3 times a day his poo's are ENORMOUS, stinky and frequently explode out of his diaper and ALWAYS get splattered all up and over his business. Its disgusting and makes me have to really scrub at the laundry alot to get the poo out, which I do not enjoy. And sometimes its just plain embarrassing. When we went to get his two month shots I thought it was only going to be half an hour or so (which is was) so I brought a diaper and wipes in my purse, but no back-up outfit. So what happens, but Jack has the most enormous and exploding poop EVER. It ran all down his leg on both sides, up his back and out the top, into his socks and dripped onto my leg. So his outfit was totally destroyed and he ended up just having to sit in the waiting room of the doctors office in just a diaper like a ghetto baby and I had to wrap the poo outfit in papertowel and have it sitting on the chair beside me because I had most stupidly brought a teeny purse that could not contain the poop infested clothing. SOO embarassing and when he was little it never would have happened.

Finally I really, really miss him sleeping through church. The first few weeks of church he slept, woke up to eat and slept again. Now most Sundays he doesn't like being near so many people during his normal napping time so he screams in my face and I walk around the hall getting advice on how to stop the crying. NOT FUN!!!

All that being said though I really love every day that he gets older, he gets more fun by the day. He's so smiley and laughy and loves to play. He sleeps so much better and doesn't feel the need to eat every 45 minutes so really its all great. But I do miss these things.

Mud Man

Last Saturday Branden and I took Jack out for a walk in his new jogging stroller. It had rained quite a bit earlier in the day and there was some mud scattering the ground. Of course, being the klutz that I am, I discovered a random patch of this mud with my unsteady feet in their unsteady flip flops and I slipped. I managed to keep myself from falling and my legs just slid around a bit. Catastrophe averted... or so I thought. Several seconds later we look up and see that my massive stumble has sprayed mud all over Jack and his new stroller. He was covered in mud and because we were outside and he licks whenever we are outside (weird I know) he was licking away at it. Poor kid. I wanted a picture soo bad, but Branden decided we would be negligent parents if we didn't clean him up post haste. So by the time we got home to the camera he was all clean. So sad, it would have made a GREAT scrapbook page.

My Little Arnold

So this afternoon I was baby oiling up Jack's head to take care of a minor case of cradle cap thats been bugging Branden and I and while getting the baby oil from the bottle to his head I kept dropping it all over his torso and he was getting quite a little pile o' baby oil on his tummy. So I thought it would be a good idea to just rub it in all over his little body so he could be nice and soft everywhere instead of just wiping it off. Well there was so darn much spillage of baby oil that by the time I rubbed it in he was all oiled up and shiny like Arnold Schwartznegger in his body building days. I was still laughing to myself thinking what a hilarious thing to happen when I went to pick him up and take him to the bath tub and realized that a wiley, squirmy baby covered in oil IS NOT a safe thing. He was so slippery and the little guy nearly wriggled and slipped his way out of my arms (he, of course, realizing my compromised position with him being all oiled up decided to wriggle like there was no tomorrow). I have learned for the future not to do things just because I think they are funny because one day I will drop my child as a result.

Jack's Sleep Positions

I don't know if this is common among all babies, but Jack seems to have the most random positions he sleeps in. There are three main positions that we find him in when we go and spy on him sleeping.

1. Power Ranger

One hand straight in the air, we call it the power ranger because he looks like they did when they were morphing from their regular selves into their power ranger alter ego's.

2. Riding a Rollercoaster

Both hands straight in the air like happens on a rollercoaster. The creepiest thing about this is last time Branden and I went to a theme park and were on rollercoasters we went with his friend Russell who called the rollercoaster face and position his sex face.. UCK creepy every time Branden reminds me of it and just so you can be as icked out as I am here is a picture of Branden and Russell on a rollercoaster with their sex faces.

3. Firing an Arrow

I couldn't catch him asleep on this one, but this is right when he woke up. Why is he firing an arrow at me? This is a very, very common one and I really don't get how this or any of the other sleep positions are comfortable in the least.

Apology to my Readers

I want to apologize. I realize my blog is pretty much obsessed with Jack and I write the most mundane, to you, things I'm sure. I just don't want to forget a thing about what he does at each age and who he is as his personality progresses. Also I'm an avid scrapbooker and I haven't quite managed to fit in any scrapping since Jack was born, so all this saves my ideas for scrapbook pages as well. So I must say I am sorry if you are sick of hearing about Jack, but I don't know if I will ever get sick of writing about him.

My Little Man

Jack wants to stand more than anything in the world I think. He is soo cute when we stand him up holding onto him and he gets stronger and stronger every day. Now instead of having to support his mid-section we can just hold his hands and he stays standing until he gets too tired and collapses in sheer exhaustion from his efforts. But while he is standing he has the most adorable smile on his face and he gets so excited and breathes soo fast its ridiculous. Lately he's been kicking his feet while standing (he loves to kick his feet whenever he is lying down) and it looks like a little march. It is SO totally and completely adorable of him! I can't wait until he can stand because I think it will just make him the happiest little boy around.

Reasons NOT to get Pregnant again right away

So in battling my thoughts of baby hunger I came up with a few reasons why pregnancy SUCKS.

1. Barfing.

I did not have a terrible time with barfing during pregnancy. I was nauseas unless eating for a few weeks, but I only barfed two times. BUT when I did Barf, boy did I ever. Barf #1 I was in the habit of riding my bike to and from work (about a half hour ride each way) because Branden was taking the car to school in Toronto. I did this through most of my first trimester until one horrible fateful day. I began my ride home and it started to pour, unfortunate, but it was okay. I get halfway home and my chain falls off my bike causing me to fall into a bush, unfortunate and totally embarrassing, but fine. I put my chain back on and continue riding into the wind and rain when I start to feel nauseas and BARF and it all shoots back all over me as I rush along on my bike. SOOO not cool and that was the end of my pregnancy bike riding. Barf #2 Branden and I are in bed one night and he decides he has excess boogies so decides to snot rocket into his hand (a habit I find soo disgusting) but the boy misses his hand and his booger hits me in my cheek and I immediately vomit all over myself, him and the bed.

2. Fat Feet.

I hated my fat feet when I was pregnant. The last 3 weeks my feet hurt like heck and weighed about three thousand pounds, it was sooo disgusting!

3. Heart Burn.

I honestly had the WORST heartburn when I was pregnant. I had a prescription that I took double dose and I still had brutal heartburn most of the time. Man I can live without that.

4. This picture
I am the pure essence of white trash in this picture. Somehow Branden caught me walking out of my trailer that I don't own and I look as ghetto as can be. Although I know I didn't look like this all pregnancy, just the fact that I could at some point return to this level of white trash lookingness should keep me from ever procreating again.

Okay so whenever I feel baby hunger hopefully these thoughts will cross my mind and it will hold me off until Jack is atleast a year.

Guitar Hero

Recently Branden got Guitar Hero and he loves playing it and Jack loves watching him play. Its so adorable when the music comes on and Jack sees his Dad rocking (because trust me Branden does rock, dancing around and making quite a spectacle of himself) he gets so excited and starts rocking out himself. We caught it on video the other day and its so cute. I think my little man might grow up to be a guitar hero himself.

You can see Jack start to get excited when the music is about to come and really rock it when the music starts!
